Mike Jones, Director Mike has over twenty years' experience and has operated across a number of sectors and disciplines. He has specialised in financial recruitment within professional services, industry and commerce. As a founder member of Michael Warwick Nicholls, he has recruited for the whole spectrum of organisations from the UK's major Blue Chip PLCs to privately owned SMEs. Prior to starting Michael Warwick Nicholls, Mike worked for a large industrial organisation as a graduate trainee before spending seven years at Michael Page where he was responsible for business development and assignment management within the UK and overseas. Neil Morris, Associate Neil Morris is a member of the Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He has over 22 years experience as a partner with KPMG specialising in all areas of taxation, with significant emphasis on boardroom matters associated with high net worth individuals, senior executive issues and corporate succession planning. Neil was Senior Partner of KPMG Leicester and is Chairman of the Leicester Regeneration Company.
Robert Edenborough Ph.D, B.Sc, AfBPs, C.Occ.Psych, Associate Bob Edenborough has worked in the field of management assessment in selection, development and top team evaluation for both public and private sector clients over many years. He has led teams of occupational psychologists at KPMG, test publisher ASE and as managing director of companies in the Gallup group. Financial services, retail, high technology, engineering and local and central government have all claimed his attention. He is versed in a range of techniques, including assessment centre methodology, psychometrics and the application of scoreable structured interviews. He has written several books on assessment methods.
Professor Diana Green CBE, BSc, PhD, FRSA, DL, Associate After a varied career including posts as a civil servant, consultant, partner in a small business and academia, Professor Diana Green became Vice Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University in 1998. In that role, which she left in July 2007, she repositioned the University as one of the leading universities dedicated to exploiting the knowledge base to stimulate economic and social transformation. She has a long-standing interest in economic development as a research field which developed through her PhD in Economics (studied as a mature student) and as a former consultant to the Department of Trade and Industry on economic and industrial change. She has a long track record as a non-executive director of several regeneration agencies in the West Midlands and in Sheffield and remains a Director of the national urban policy group, Centre for Cities. She has also published extensively on quality and performance management. While Vice Chancellor, she had a number of national and regional roles, including membership of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, the Council of the All Party Parliamentary Universities Group, Yorkshire Universities and the National Centre for Science learning (both of which she chaired in 2006-7). She was active in HE policy development, especially in relation to the commercialisation of research and business engagement, Better Regulation and the Student Experience. Since July 2007, Diana has developed a portfolio of non-executive directorships and set up a limited company as a vehicle for developing consultancy in leadership and change management. She is a Key associate of the LFHE. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, A Freeman of the City of London, A Freeman of the Guild of Educators and Liveryman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators. In her spare time she is a pilot flying her own light aircraft. Diana was awarded a CBE in June 2007, and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands County in May 2008. Diana is an Associate Consultant for AHC's public sector practice.
Colin Horwath BSc, ACA , Managing Director, AHC Publica Ltd After graduating and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Colin worked in a variety of local authorities as a public finance accountant. He gained experience in many service areas including education. He joined Armitage & Norton as an external auditor, and ultimately was appointed partner responsible for the firm’s midland public sector practice. In 1987 the firm merged with KPMG and Colin became a partner in the Birmingham office. He recently retired after 20 years as a partner during which he held a number of national leadership positions within KPMG including head of public sector, lead partner for public sector audit, and lead partner for education audit and advisory services. Through this Colin has extensive experience of working with clients at Board and Chief Executive level on complex strategic and operational issues. As well as education and health, Colin has worked with major government departments advising on implementation of policy and change programs. In addition to his current role as leader of AHC public sector practice, Colin has been a governor of a City Technology College and has recently become a non executive director of a foundation NHS trust. Claire MacLeod, BA (Hons), Director, AHC Publica Ltd Claire’s background is in consultancy, research and business development. Prior to joining AHC Publica, she worked for Hays Executive, where she established and grew the search practice within the education sector, working closely with executive management and boards of governors to assist in the recruitment of senior postholders to a range of HE and FE institutions and academies. Claire has also placed a number of Chief Executives and Managing Directors to education-related private and not for profit organisations.
Gwen Wileman MA BA FCIPD, Associate, AHC Publica Ltd Gwen was, until 2009, Director of Human Resources at De Montfort University (DMU). She has extensive experience of strategic Human Resource Management in Higher Education, The Post Office and the National Health Service. She also held an academic post at Leicester Business School. Gwen is an Independent Consultant with expertise in Executive Coaching, Senior Executive Recruitment, Leadership Development, HR Strategy and HR Professional Development. Currently, she leads the Universities Human Resources (UHR) Business Partners Development Programme with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE). She is also an Associate of Xenonex Talent Coaching. Gwen is a Fellow of the CIPD and an accredited Executive Coach. Whilst HR Director at DMU, she was an active member of UHR National Executive Committee and Regional Chair for the Midlands. She is a Leadership Fellow of the LFHE, Author and regular Conference Contributor.
Joanne Ellingworth, Director of Operations Joanne has considerable experience working as an Office Manager/PA for organisations within many disparate sectors, having started her career in recruitment at Michael Warwick Nicholls. She ensures that high quality business and administrative support is available to the Directors of Active Human Capital and that outstanding service levels are maintained to the firm’s clients.
